Before you write
Sending the right details in the first message saves a round of questions and means I can look at the actual chart or plan before we speak.
Date of birth, time of birth and place of birth — for everyone the question concerns. If it is a marriage matching, that means both people.
Take the birth time from the hospital record or the birth certificate if you can find it. If all you have is a family estimate, send it anyway and say how confident you are; an approximate time is workable as long as we both know it is approximate.
Two or three questions written down, in your own words. This helps more than you would expect.
The floor plan — a builder drawing, an architect’s PDF, or a clear hand sketch with approximate room sizes. All three work.
The direction the main door faces, taken from a compass app while standing inside the doorway looking out.
A slow video walk-through, room by room, if you can. For a commercial or industrial site, add the seating plan and what each area is used for.
Say whether you own or rent, and what you are permitted to change.
Usually the same day. If what you have sent is enough, I will say so; if something important is missing, I will ask for that one thing rather than send a form.
Including, sometimes, that you do not need one. If a free self-assessment would settle your question, I would rather tell you that than take the booking.
Your chart or your plan is read in advance, not opened for the first time while you are on the call. That is the whole reason the conversation is worth having.
A written summary you can act on over the following weeks, so you are not relying on memory or on notes taken during a call.
Birth details and floor plans are treated as confidential. Nothing is published as a case study without written permission, and anything published is anonymised first. If you would rather your material were deleted after the consultation, say so and it will be.
