The seventh house, properly
What occupies it, what aspects it, and the condition of its lord. This describes the shape partnership takes in your life, which is a different question from when it arrives — and both are worth having.
In short: Your chart is read specifically for the timing of marriage: the seventh house and its lord, the significators, the mahadasha and antardasha running, and the transits crossing them. What comes out is a window of a few years with the reasoning attached — not a date, because a date would not be true.
The work
What occupies it, what aspects it, and the condition of its lord. This describes the shape partnership takes in your life, which is a different question from when it arrives — and both are worth having.
Marriage tends to arrive under a period connected to the seventh, second or eleventh house, reinforced by a transit over the relevant points. Placements describe the possibility; the period describes the year.
Genuine astrological delay is a recognised pattern with recognised causes. It is also, very often, not what is happening — a dosha label from a free calculator has frozen the family and proposals are being refused before any chart is read.
Where the indications disagree with each other, I say so rather than picking the one that makes a cleaner sentence. That happens often enough to be worth stating in advance.
Said plainly
A reading can describe when the conditions for marriage are best supported in your chart, and it can remove a label that was never earned. It cannot produce a spouse, guarantee a wedding, or make a marriage happy once it exists. A favourable window is a stretch in which things are easier, not a door that locks behind you — and people marry outside the obvious windows all the time. Anyone offering you a month and a year is selling certainty rather than a reading.
Before you ask
Because a marriage involves two charts and one set of circumstances, and I am looking at one of the three. Your period can be entirely open while the other person has not been introduced to you yet. A window is the honest unit. Anyone naming a month is either guessing or has decided a confident answer sells better than a true one.
Usually not in the way you fear. Later marriage is a recognised pattern rather than a fault, and in my records it is associated with placements that also tend to produce more considered choices. What I would want to check is whether the delay is astrological at all — in a good many cases the chart is open and circumstance simply has not met it.
Partially, and I will tell you which parts stay reliable. The seventh house is counted from the ascendant, so an hour of error can move the entire question. Bring what you have and say honestly how confident you are in it.
Then say so, and bring what each of them told you. Repeatedly re-asking the same question of new astrologers is the most reliable way I know to make a person miserable, and part of what I would want to do is help you stop.
