Chosen for the activity
The tradition treats different nakshatras as suited to different kinds of beginning. A good time to start construction is not automatically a good time to sign a contract.
In short: A short list of workable times for your activity, chosen against your own chart rather than in the abstract, with the reasoning for each so you can weigh them against the practical constraints only you know.
The work
The tradition treats different nakshatras as suited to different kinds of beginning. A good time to start construction is not automatically a good time to sign a contract.
A time that is excellent in the abstract but lands in a difficult period for the person doing the thing is not the recommendation it appears to be. Both get looked at.
You get a short list with reasoning, because you know the practical constraints — who can travel, when the paperwork clears — and I do not.
Things that happen once and cannot easily be undone: a marriage, taking possession, the formal start of a business, the beginning of construction. Less so for routine activity.
Said plainly
A well-chosen muhurat gives a venture a considered beginning. It does not guarantee the venture succeeds, and no time of day compensates for an unfinished plan, an unaffordable commitment or a partnership that was wrong to begin with. In my own notes, the value of a muhurat tracks how much preparation preceded it far more than how good the time itself was. Never let the date drive the preparation.
Before you ask
As far as you can. Four days’ notice means choosing the least bad of four options; a month means actually choosing. This costs nothing and matters more than almost anything else about the request.
Then take the next one. I have watched people accept real practical harm to hit a window — a hurried possession before a proper inspection, a ceremony nobody could attend — and that trade is almost never worth it.
Not usually. Muhurat earns its keep for genuine beginnings that happen once. For routine or repeated activity it adds anxiety more reliably than it adds anything else.
