Sade sati is defined against the Moon, not the sun sign, and a great deal of what is announced online is announced for the wrong chart. We start by confirming the Moon and the dates, because the answer is sometimes simply no.
The rising phase, the peak over the Moon and the setting phase are not the same experience and do not press on the same part of life. Knowing which one you are in explains more than the label ever does.
A hard year during sade sati is not automatically caused by it. Where the dasha, a transit or an ordinary circumstance explains the difficulty better, I will say so rather than let Saturn carry it.

This tells you where you are in a transit and what it tends to press on. It does not shorten sade sati, and nobody can. Any practitioner offering to remove it is selling you the offer. Saturn periods end on their own schedule; what is genuinely within reach is understanding what is happening and not making avoidable decisions in the middle of it.
Before you ask
No. It is a transit — Saturn moves, and it finishes when it finishes. What can change is how much of the difficulty you add to it yourself through panic decisions, and how much money you hand to somebody promising to end it. That is a real saving and I am happy to be the person who tells you so.
No, and the assumption does a lot of damage. It is a demanding period that rewards structure and punishes shortcuts. Plenty of people build the most durable things in their lives during it. It is heavy; heavy is not the same as ruinous.
Only if the site used your Moon sign and you entered it correctly, which is often not what happens. Sade sati is calculated from the natal Moon. If you gave a sun sign, the result is about somebody else.
The two and a half year Saturn transit over the fourth or eighth from the Moon is checked in the same reading, because people are frequently told they are in sade sati when this is what is actually running.
